Re: LFC Transfer Rumours
Eleven years after he left, former product of La Masia and Barcelona goalkeeper, Pepe Reina could soon be back to where it all started for him.
Victor Valdes has made it clear that he wants to leave the Camp Nou and although he has made no comment about his future, he would be more than happy to listen to offers from the Premiership for his services (Arsenal and Liverpool mostly). Tito Vilanova wants him to stay till the end of his contract next season but the board would be happy to sell him. Consequently the Catalan club is now setting its sights on bringing the 30-year-old Spanish international back into the fold on a two year deal that would serve as a transition period before the establishment of a new keeper, with or without Valdes still at the club
Reina is more than keen to rejoin the club the club that loaned him out and then sold him to Villarreal in 2002 and I understand that Liverpool, as long as a fee can be agreed, will not stand in his way. All that is left to do is for Barcelona to follow with that offer but Pepe knows he is the favourite goalkeeper to join them this summer.
Sold by Villarreal to Liverpool in 2005 he has been an ever present in the Premiership since the start of the 2007/08 season and holds the record for the Spanish player with the most appearances, - more than 200 in five seasons. He is also considered to be Iker Casillas’s deputy for Spain alongside Valdes and has played for his country at every level including 26 times for the full national side and was part of the squads that won the World Cup in 2010 and the European championships in 2008 and 2012.
So Reina and Liverpool are now waiting for the Barcelona call.

Tony Barrett on The Times says Barcelona have identified Pepe Reina as their preferred option to replace Víctor Valdés
Re: LFC Transfer Rumours
Tony Barrett on The Times - Liverpool have not received any inquiries from Barcelona but the potential exists for a deal to be put together. Reina is not looking to leave Liverpool but the lure of his former club could be difficult to resist
Re: LFC Transfer Rumours
I reckon unless Rodgers wants him gone, he will be here next season

Re: LFC Transfer Rumours
I dunno, how much do you reckon we would get for him? He is 30 now right? I reckon £12-£15 mill max. I could see him going there and us getting £££ and a player or two. I dont want to see him go as Keeper was a problem position for us before he came for as long as I can remember but maybe it will make sense for both sides now?

Re: LFC Transfer Rumours
Cant think of one that would come. I like Courtois of Athletico but Chelsea own him, Marc-Andre ter Stegen of Gladbach but would he come? Same could be said about Steklenberg of Roma but at least we have the FSG contacts there. Julio Cesar of QPR???????
Re: LFC Transfer Rumours

Re: LFC Transfer Rumours
Ter Stegen and Courtois have many many years ahead of them and are going to be top top Keepers, Steklenberg is 30 also but is a good keeper, Cesar is prob bottom of the pile ability wise but im not saying he is shite. Id like us to get the young German lad as they normally move to the top German clubs but Bayern and Dortmund are well covered there.

Re: LFC Transfer Rumours
Liverpool are close to making Kolo Touré their first summer signing as part of Brendan Rodgers' plans to add experience to a central defence without Jamie Carragher.
The 32-year-old is available on a free transfer when his four-year contract with Manchester City expires next month and he has not been offered an extension, having fallen down the pecking order under the former manager Roberto Mancini. Touré wants to stay in English football, ideally in the north-west where his children are settled at school, and has been offered the ideal solution by Rodgers.
A deal is believed to have been agreed in principle with Touré, who is in the United States for City's end-of-season tour and will undergo a medical on his return.
The Liverpool manager will strengthen in central defence this summer and may require three additions in that department, with Carragher retiring on Sunday, Martin Skrtel out of favour and Sebastián Coates failing to make an impression in his two seasons at Anfield. Liverpool are open to offers for Coates but Rodgers has claimed that Skrtel remains in his plans.
The manager has several targets in mind with Kyriakos Papadopoulos of Schalke the prime target, Ajax's Toby Alderweireld under consideration and the Lille left-back, Lucas Digne, also a possibility. Touré offers an experienced, inexpensive option for Rodgers, who lamented that he had a quiet squad in need of more leaders even before Carragher's retirement.

Re: LFC Transfer Rumours
He is a good option to have in the squat, as disgusted as you are Joe, if he signs now he is currently our second best cb.
Either way he is going to be 4th choice I'd imagine.
