Brendan Rodgers

I enjoyed this read, im starting to look at the situation a bit better now and think given time and support both financially from owners and backing from fans he could be a success here.

Re: Brendan Rodgers
Im not joking but ive a great feeling about this appointment. The majority of the fan base knew Hodgson was the wrong appointment for the club at the time most were on his case from the start ( me being the biggest culprit) and to be fair Roy didnt help himself either. A lot of fans are fuming about this appointment but realistically we were never going to attract a top top manager, Liverpool FC have fallen so far behind domestically since Rafa left that its time to try something different, Rodgers can take us in that new direction with new ideas and new playing style. Im willing to give him time to implement his ideas and make his mark on the club. We knew what we were getting with Roy his style never changes and his signings were mediocre, Rodgers can be like a breath of fresh air for the whole club if given time and hopefully financial backing, the appointment of Van Gaal as DOF will hopefully aid the attracting of top players and there is nothing that man doesn't know about footy.
Time to stop waffling, havent even re-read this but sounded ok in my head.

Re: Brendan Rodgers
Never in a million yrs would have thought he would be our manager
Will players stay now?
Will players sign now?
Will he be able to fight our corner?
I think fans are venting because we have no affinity with him whatsoever, I don't know the first thing about him, don't think I ever listened to more then 2 of his pressers.
This is a totally new path down the unknown, fans are scared.
I admit I am one of them.
He's a brave man, he seen what happened with Roy, knows what he's getting into and still wants to give it a go.
So, best of luck Brendan, here's to new beginnings at LFC

Liverpool as a City are known for being at the forefront of innovation, be it music, fashion or football, this could be a masterstroke and all im saying is we should embrace this new direction without fear, we could rewind the clock to 1959 and ask Bill who? Will he fight our corner? ( oh and btw ive yet to meet a N/Irishman that cant do that..... am i right Moe?) Ive no affinity with Bill whats his name, never in a million years did I think Bill Shankly a Huddersfield manager would be running Liverpool.
Players will always want to sign for Liverpool thats a given but like Rodgers being a new dawn we will probably have to realise on the player signing front that we are not a big attraction at the minute and wont be getting top top names but bar Torres and Suarez who are the big names we have ever singed in the past 10yrs? I understand that fans are scared but since 2007/08 we really have done fuck all so it cant really get any worse. The only player I can see leaving is Skrtel but you never know he may be impressed with the new plans and stay onboard.
Re: Brendan Rodgers
Top players, Morientes, cisse, mascherano (whether he was getting a game or not) kewell were all top players when signed so I don't think getting top players will be a major problem with a few quid.
Getting the right top players may be the problem. Not like most of the above that couldn't handle LFC.

Morientes was finished, Cisse was an unknown, we made Mascherano and Kewell?????????? maybe ok. World class were Torres and Suarez, but my point is exactly what you are saying we signed players on the level below those two and will continue to do it and make it work for our system.
Re: Brendan Rodgers
And there is not a problem with that.
With regards cisse and morientes, they were still getting the goals, quiet a lot in there leagues even though morientes was not getting as much game time. Cisse was much sought after if I remember.
Maybe we made Masch better but was still very very good.
With regards kewell, I'd go the other way and say we broke him not made him. Flopped.
Torres was a gem, nobody could have seen him turn out as good but was scoring same as cisse season before he joined.
As I say, I think we can still attract top quality players if money is shown. We just can't really afford any mistakes like we have done previously.

Im agreeing with this all along all im saying is we have only signed 2 world class players in about the last 6/7 years but we will still attract the next level of top quality footballer, Liverpool will always attract footballers.
Re: Brendan Rodgers
Oh I know.
Wondering why all the Roumors were all about young managers. Is this FSG major plan finally been put into place?
This transfer market will tell a lot, a the next two seasons.
Excited but very weary at the same time.
We cannot afford to mess this up

Re: Brendan Rodgers
Thats why I think Van Gaal has to be brought in also, he will attract players to the club. Rumours he has 25mill to spend i hope thats not counting what he generates too.
Re: Brendan Rodgers
Spend it wisely, its not a lot in modern game.
I really hope van gAAl comes but have concerns about whether it will work.

Re: Brendan Rodgers
Good post Red (the one you answered my last one with, can't seem to quote it)
I love your enthusiasm
25 million is feck all in the grand scheme of things.
If the owners want to start a new beginning, I seriously hope they are ready to invest more then that.
I'm truly sick of, we will turn it around in January, its only the middle of the season, plenty of games left, calculating points and hoping for miracles and depending on other teams to do us a favour
We need to start as we mean to go on.
