Re: LFC Transfer Rumours
Liverpool are ready to test Aston Villa's resolve to hang on to their England striker Darren Bent.
People Sport understands that Bent would jump at the chance to link up again with his former Villa team-mate and England colleague Stewart Downing at Anfield. And Liverpool, who have noted that Bent is failing to reproduce his England form for Villa, are weighing up a bid.
The Merseysiders know they would have to match the £24million Villa paid Sunderland for Bent last January.
But with Luis Suarez facing an eight-match ban and Andy Carroll struggling for form and goals, Liverpool are tempted to take the plunge.
After last year's £50m sale of Fernando Torres to Chelsea, the net transfer spend of new owners Fenway Sports remains relatively modest - and Reds boss Kenny Dalglish still has funds available.
Bent, 27, has become a regular England starter over the past 12 months.
People Sport revealed last month that Bent was unhappy with the service he was receiving from the wings at Villa Park following the big-money departures of Downing to Anfield and Ashley Young to Manchester United.
Their replacement, Charles N'Zogbia, has hardly got out of first gear with Alex McLeish's side either.
Villa manager McLeish has gone out of his way to stress that there are no problems between him and his misfiring striker.
Bent was on the substitutes' bench at Stamford Bridge yesterday after missing the last three Villa games because of a thigh injury.
But he came on to replace N'Zogbia with 12 minutes left and scored Villa's third in a stunning 3-1 win.

Re: LFC Transfer Rumours
Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish says there is no chance striker Darren Bent will leave for Liverpool during the January transfer window.
Bent came under fire from Villa fans last month when, having picked up an injury that ruled him out of action, he was pictured shopping during the club's defeat to Liverpool in the Premier League.
Kenny Dalglish is rumoured to be weighing up a bid for the England international, with Reds forward Luis Suarez poised to miss eight games for racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.
Bent returned to action against Chelsea at the weekend, scoring the third as Villa claimed a shock 3-1 victory at Stamfor Bridge. And after watching the £24 million hitman find the net, McLeish said: "He won't be leaving."

Re: LFC Transfer Rumours
Twente attacker and Netherlands international Luuk de Jong has admitted that he would be interested in a move to the Premier League if an exciting offer comes in.
The 21-year-old, who has a contract with the Enschede side until June 2014, has recently been linked with clubs such as Liverpool, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur, and he admitted that he would like to play is football in England one day.
"I'm still very happy playing for Twente, but every player has dreams," De Jong was quoted as saying in an interview with fifa.com.
"Mine is to play in a nice foreign competition one day. And the Premier League is a really nice competition. I don't have real plans for the future - I'll see what comes my way."
The young striker then went on to discuss the upcoming European Championship in Poland and Ukraine, and stressed that he will be ready whenever coach Bert van Marwijk needs him.
"I will be happy if I'm called up for the Euro 2012 finals. I know I'm not going to play a lot, but I'll be ready whenever the coach needs me.
"I think we are one of the favourites to win the title, with Spain and Germany. But it is a tournament - you never know what happens."
The Oranje have been drawn with Denmark, Germany and Portugal in Group B at Euro 2012. They start the tournament with a match against the Danes on June 9.

Re: LFC Transfer Rumours
We may have bought for the future in Henderson and Carroll last window but we need some established 1st teamers in the side imo, Striker and a replacement for Lucas are paramount this month......asap.
Re: LFC Transfer Rumours
And a winger if I'm honest. Can't see the winger this transfer window

Re: LFC Transfer Rumours
I honestly would like him here I think he would score goals for us just as long as we aren't getting shafted on the fee, 12m-15m would be plenty for him, if we are spending 20m or more then there has to be better younger options about the world never mind this buying British shite.

Agree Red, anything over 20 is a joke, didn't they pay 24 for him?

Re: LFC Transfer Rumours
Has one of the fewest touches so far this season, which backs up points he does nothing else
I'm fine with that as long as he scores, but will he effect our build up play.

Re: LFC Transfer Rumours
Yes but if they have an unhappy player at the club they could look rid sharpish, I see they are after Keane also.misslfc wrote:Barnes 10 wrote:I honestly would like him here I think he would score goals for us just as long as we aren't getting shafted on the fee, 12m-15m would be plenty for him, if we are spending 20m or more then there has to be better younger options about the world never mind this buying British shite.

I read on twitter this morn that Carroll had the ball at his feet for 7 secs of the 90 mins last night. In Carroll defence he had fuck all to work off last night.
Re: LFC Transfer Rumours
7 seconds too long
Ah I think you know where I am comming from, we play our best footie with Luis up front, he brings 3 4 people into the game straight away, and my only worry about bent is that if he takes up someones position, we may have even less support for Suarez to do his magic
