Re: LFC Transfer Rumours
Neil Jones from the Echo says
Their bid to sign Schalke defender Kyriakos Papadopoulos, however, is over. The Reds' interest in the Greek international has cooled after initial negotiations with the German club proved fruitless.
Liverpool rate Papadopoulos, and value him at around £12m, but Schalke's insistence on a deal worth around £20m means the deal is no longer an option, with Rodgers now set to pursue other central defensive targets. Ajax's Toby Alderweireld is a potential option.

Re: LFC Transfer Rumours
Liverpool's summer recruitment continues to gather momentum with Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet expected to have a medical next week.
The two clubs have been negotiating over a fee for the Belgium international but those talks are at a level where preparations can begin for the next stage of the transfer.
Press Association Sport understands Migolet is expected to attend the Reds' Melwood training ground next week to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical.
His arrival pushes the future of Liverpool's established number one Jose Reina further into the spotlight.
Speculation has widely linked the Spain international with a summer move to former club Barcelona but, with their goalkeeper Victor Valdes insistent he will see out the remaining year of his contract, there may not be an opening at the Nou Camp.
Reina yesterday said he planned to see out the three years of his contract - and possibly extend it - but did concede a move to a bigger club would be a "good opportunity".
No approach has so far been received from the Catalans for Reina and, although there is still more than two months before the transfer window closes, Liverpool could conceivably begin the season with two high-profile goalkeepers on their books both wanting to be first choice in a World Cup year.
Manager Brendan Rodgers has said he wants competition in every position throughout his squad and with all the speculation surrounding Reina, who is currently in action at the Confederations Cup, it would have been negligent of him not to have lined up an alternative.
But it is unclear whether Rodgers wants to start next season with a situation where he has to upset either one of his most experienced - and highest-earning - players - or his new signing.
Sevilla midfielder Luis Alberto is expected to be confirmed as Rodgers' third signing in the next couple of days after traveling to the club's Melwood training ground for a medical.
The 20-year-old has said he will use the success of Spaniards in the Premier League to motivate him.
"I'm very much looking forward to it," Alberto said.

Re: LFC Transfer Rumours
Think Pepe will stay another year at least and i also think Suarez will also stay another season.Mingolet is a better back up option to have than what we have at present.

Re: LFC Transfer Rumours
did Rodgers not say the club squad needed bodies in to compete with the personnel already at club so i think he not replacing Pepe but competing for starting place.

Re: LFC Transfer Rumours
NOT VALUE FOR MONEY HAVING 11M ON THE BENCH. IF AND A BIG IF, HE DOES MANAGE TO BECOME NUMBER ONE, PEPES VALUE DECREASES SIGNICIFCANTLY.
MAKES NO SENSE FROM WHAT I CAN SEE JOE

Re: LFC Transfer Rumours
mean any of the reserve GK at club m8.If FSG don't realise that this is footy market reality then shouldn't be owners of our club.

Re: LFC Transfer Rumours
IM SURE THEY REALISE THAT, BUT ITS 11M THAT I CAN NOT SEE THEM PARTING WITH TO HAVE LITTLE OR NO IMPACT ON OUR SEASON WHEN WE HAVE A BETTER KEEPER. THAT IS WHAT I AM SAYING. NO MORE NO LESS.
ID EXPECT A 4/5M RATED GOALKEEPER AS BACKUP. IM ALL HAPPY FOR BETTER PLAYERS COMPETITION BUT THIS SPELLS THE END OF PEPE I THINK.
WHICH IS A SHAME AS HE IS THE BETTER KEEPER.
LETS HOPE ITS NOT TO DO WITH INFLUENCE IN DRESSING ROOM ETC AND WHOLY A FOOTBALL RELEATED DECISION, WHICH I STRUGGLE TO SEE AS MIGNOLET IS NOWHERE NEAR THE SAME LEAFUE AS PEPE.

Re: LFC Transfer Rumours
You didnt answer my question Thomas, what if Pepe wants out and Rodgers sees the opportunity to sign a keeper that can play for the next 10 years for the same price we will get for Reina?
I dont want to see him go but atleast we are planning early for it and we arent going to be fucked around at the last min if he goes on deadline day and we are left with Brad fucking Jones until Jan.
