Wonder will it see us get someone in? I see QPR are looking Granero on loan from Madrid, we were linked with him last season when Lucas was injured.

See young Yesil scored 2 again for the German youngsters last night......... old enough good enough, time to throw him in?

Fwiw i like Borini, I think his movement in and around the box is very clever and hence he is wasted out wide and should be used as a CF and not in a rotating 3.

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed Lucas Leiva is to take a step closer to a first-team comeback by returning to training at Melwood today – while Pepe Reina and Jonjo Shelvey will both be fit for Saturday's visit of Wigan Athletic.

The Brazil midfielder has been sidelined with a thigh problem since August 26, but is now just a 'couple of weeks' away from returning to action, according to the boss.

Rodgers told journalists at Melwood: "We're in a good moment. Some of the players that have been out are starting to return back to training.

"Lucas Leiva will come back into training, which is great news. He has worked tirelessly in his rehabilitation, so he comes back out onto the field in a good moment.

"He won't be ready to play for the weekend, but certainly over the next couple of weeks he'll be very close."

Thats great news, I think with Lucas back we can get Allen further up the pitch and not have as many defensive duties which will suit him.

Yep I agree, plus Lucas does what he does so effective and quietly that it nearly almost goes unnoticed. It will take 5/6 weeks to get him fully back.
It will be interesting how Allen will fair out in the more advanced position.
I have not been impressed too much with Sahin to be honest and think he may be a luxury player, although he is coming back from a long layoff

Borini closing on comeback

January 4, 2013
Liverpool striker Fabio Borini is set to return to training next week as he steps up his comeback from a broken foot.
Borini initially suffered the injury during a 2-1 Premier League defeat at home to Manchester United on September 23, and has not played since aggravating it while on duty with the Italy Under-21 squad in October.

The 21-year-old, signed from Roma last summer, is approaching full fitness again, and is ready to give manager Brendan Rodgers an extra option in attack.

Rodgers strengthened his forward line on Wednesday with the £12 million signing of Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea, and is hopeful that the additional forward power in support of Luis Suarez will help his side climb the Premier League table over the second half of the season.

"Fabio will start training next week," Rodgers said. "We've got players coming back now, which is great. Having Daniel come in the door and Fabio Borini returning from injury will be great for us.

"That will give us flexibility within the group."
